{"id":585,"date":"2021-01-20T13:41:10","date_gmt":"2021-01-20T13:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/176.32.230.18\/swordmagazine.net\/?p=585"},"modified":"2021-05-11T15:28:49","modified_gmt":"2021-05-11T14:28:49","slug":"the-great-omission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swordmagazine.net\/?p=585","title":{"rendered":"The Great Omission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Has the Church been locked down and out?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>History will bear witness, in the weeks and months following the Coronavirus pandemic, of those<br \/>who stepped up to the plate \u2026 and those who may have seemed to be silent in the national<br \/>narrative that unfolded as we were herded into our homes during lockdown, while the cruel virus<br \/>raged relentlessly. Many risked their lives in acts of self-sacrifice, some even gave of their lives. I am<br \/>deeply humbled by these acts, as we should all be, especially as we have considered our current<br \/>generation \u2018the snowflake generation\u2019, in marked contrast to those who fought for their country in<br \/>the two World wars. Over a half a million volunteered to help the NHS, people of all religious and<br \/>cultural background and ages. The first two doctors to die of the virus were of Sudanese origin, who<br \/>had dedicated their skills to our country for decades. Doctors and nurses, knowing of their<br \/>vulnerability to the invisible menace, came out of retirement to help the national effort. Once such<br \/>doctor was Dr Alfa Saadu, originally from Nigeria, who returned to the NHS to help out, after 40<br \/>years of service, only to be one of the first to die. One of so many tragic but heroic stories that could<br \/>be told.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:more --><\/p>\n<div class=\"swpm-more-tag-not-logged-in swpm-margin-top-10\">You need to login to view the rest of the content.
