The Church’s enemies are multiplying. Will we love them if we can’t even love each other?

Well now, Brothers and Sisters (I’m using your honoured titles with deliberate purpose which I hope to clarify) …we are at sixes and sevens about today’s headlines. At one end of a scale, we have spiritual siblings, the blood-bought children of One Father, who inhabit an online world so full of intrigue and conspiracy that words like ‘pandemic’, ‘vaccine’ and ‘lockdown’ are loaded with terrifying Orwellian threats to democracy and cherished liberties. At the other end of the scale are their own spiritual kin, bought by the same blood, who casually smile at ‘conspiracy theories’ and happily accept government, Twitter and newspaper versions of reality. One extreme fears that antichrist is waiting in the wings, the other fears only the contagion. Between these two poles lies a congregation of graded colours…
